BACKGROUND AND LATEST INFORMATION
|
The Jacksonville NC Kennel Club (JNCKC) was founded in 1968 by a group of people interested in organizing a kennel club. The JNCKC was officially begun in January, 1969. The JNCKC is a NONPROFIT and thus, a non commercial venture, organization dedicated to the betterment of purebred dogs through the education of breeders, exhibitors, pet owners, and all dog lovers of all ages.
The JNCKC is preparing for its Next Match, which will be scheduled for sometime in MARCH, 1999 at the National Guard Armory, Jacksonville, NC. B-OB is Breed-Obedience and a Match is similar to a dog show, but there are no points earned towards a championship. There will be a Parade of Champion Dogs and Junior Handling for children. Matches are events where one can try out their dog to see how it responds to a show like situation, see how oneself responds to being in a show ring, practice for an upcoming show and just to see different breeds and have fun. Not only will common AKC breeds be entered, but there is a class for Rare and Miscellaneous Breeds, too.
NOTICE!!! NOTICE!! NOTICE!! THE JNCKC WILL BE MOVING TO A BRAND NEW WEBSITE. PLEASE LOOK FOR US AT http://www.geocities.com/Petsburg/Zoo/ 1625/

BREEDER REFERRAL & CLASSES & CLINICS
|
The JNCKC offers a Breeder Referral Service to the community. This service as a locator for puppies, stud service, adult and rescue dogs, and breed information. General questions regarding the AKC can be answered and care and dog training can be discussed.
There are CLASSES in Obedience which are on-going throughout the year. Classes are held at the Outdoor/Indoor Flea Market in Jacksonville, NC. One set of classes just began on Thursday, January 7, 1999. Conformation/Breed Showing Classes are offered on an occasional basis. All classes are offered in the evenings for the convenience of those who work & go to school. Tattoo Clinics for dogs are offered a couple of times throughout each year. By having your pet tattooed, you may lower the risk of theft and if your dog is stolen, increase the likelihood the dog will be returned to you once found. Also, tattoos serve as a means of identification, which comes in handy in this hurricane prone area. Rescue efforts on the part of animals are increased with a permanent identification on the dog.
